Welcome to Baseball Boxscore
I've always believed that baseball tells its best stories through the numbers. Box scores, stat lines, minor league reports - they all paint a picture of what's happening on the field, even when we can't be there to see it ourselves. That's why I decided to start Baseball Boxscore.
This space will focus on 3 main areas I'm passionate about: Cleveland Guardians prospects, interesting box scores from around the game, and the career of Jim Thome. Why these three? Well, the future of baseball lies in its prospects, and there's something special about following players as they work their way up through the minors. As for box scores, they're like daily puzzles waiting to be solved - sometimes the most compelling stories of the season are hidden in the numbers of a random Tuesday night game.
And Thome? He represents everything I love about baseball. From that iconic batting stance to his humble approach to the game, Thome's career deserves to be remembered and celebrated. We'll look back at some of his greatest moments and examine the statistics that made him one of Cleveland's most beloved players.
I'm planning to post periodic Prospect Profiles, breaking down performances and potential of players in the Guardians' system. You'll also find analysis of notable box scores throughout the season - those games where the numbers tell us something worth exploring further. And yes, there will be plenty of Thome content mixed in, because some players just make baseball better.
This blog won't try to compete with major sports sites or break news. Instead, it's a place for thoughtful reflection and appreciation of the game we love. I hope you'll join me in exploring the stats and stories that make baseball special, one box score at a time.
The first prospect profile will be posted in early February 2025, just in time for Spring Training. See you at the ballpark!
